Welcome to October!

Well, we've made it through our first month of school...I have to admit, I wondered if we would for a while! Let's hope all of the bugs have been worked out (so to speak) and the rest of the year will be normal!

We've already had some excitement in K-2 this month:
  • JESSE lost his first tooth! He told us he was so excited, he cried!
  • K-2 presented their "All About Me" posters to the class yesterday. Great job, everyone! We have posted them in the hallway outside our classroom...feel free to drop in and check them out.
  • Our school raised over $1 000 for the Terry Fox Run today! Well done, guys! MARTINA was the school leader in pledges, with $140. We are also very proud of HAYLEY, who walked the whole way from the monument to Pebble Beach without getting a ride - though she was "definitely NOT going to walk home!" Thanks again to all the moms that walked (and drove) along with us, gave us water and fed us popsicles. Your support helps to make events like these possible, and we appreciate you.

We are sad to report that all of our caterpillars have passed away. Our milkweed plant, however, is going strong. You win some, you lose some.

Some important DATES TO REMEMBER for October:

  • October 3 - Hot Lunch
  • October 8 - Thanksgiving (No School)
  • October 10 - Book Orders due
  • October 12 - Picture Orders due
  • October 15/16 - Curriculum Days for Teachers (No School)
  • October 17 - Pizza Day
  • October 31 - Hot Lunch/Halloween Party

Have a great day!

Ms. F.

Thursday's News

Some of you may have heard that we are raising monarch caterpillars in our classroom. Today, one more of our "babies" died, leaving us with two remaining larvae. These two are fat and about 1-1/2 inches in length, so we are hopeful that they will continue to grow and form their chrysallises soon.

Stay tuned for more updates!
